WAIA Member Company Co-Hosts the First “Five Principles Forum on Secure IoT,” Successfully Concluded in Hangzhou

Connecting Everything Intelligently, with Security by Design

Recently, the First Five Principles Forum on Secure IoT, co-hosted by Hangzhou Ruhr IoT Technology Co., Ltd., a member of the World AI & IoT Innovation Alliance (WAIA), was successfully held in Yuhang District, Hangzhou. Centered on the theme “Connecting Everything Intelligently, with Security by Design,” the forum brought together leading representatives from government, industry, academia, and research institutions to explore the future of secure IoT in the era of intelligent connectivity.

Global Expertise Converges to Advance Secure IoT Development

The forum attracted more than 300 participants from government agencies, research institutes, industry associations, and enterprises across the IoT value chain. Dou Changjun, Co-Secretary General of WAIA, and Dr. Ir. Sanny Suharli, representative of the Indonesian Security Industry Technology Association, were invited to attend alongside academicians, policymakers, and industry leaders.

Discussions focused on technological breakthroughs, industrial collaboration, and international cooperation in secure IoT, contributing insights and solutions for building resilient security systems in the global intelligent era.

AI Enablement and Ecosystem Collaboration: Key Outcomes of the Forum

Senior leaders including Wang Yongchang, Former Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress and Director of the Zhejiang Institute of Culture and History, and Mei Jiansheng, Deputy District Mayor of Yuhang, delivered opening remarks. Distinguished attendees also included Lu Guihua, Standing Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and former Vice Minister of Water Resources; Wang Jianman, former Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province; Academician Yang Jingsui of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor at Nanjing University; and Academician He Manchao, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Disaster Prevention and Intelligent Maintenance in Tunnel Engineering and President of the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering.

During the signing ceremonies, the Future Sci-Tech City Administrative Committee and the Yuhang District Development and Reform Bureau organized partnership agreements for secure IoT ecosystem co-development and secure intelligent IoT scenario innovation. More than ten upstream and downstream enterprises—including Hangzhou Ruhr IoT Technology, Hangzhou Yuhang Big Data Operation Company, and Luowei Technology (Hangzhou)—signed cooperation agreements, jointly promoting coordinated innovation from technology R&D to real-world deployment.

Frontier Insights from Academia and Industry

In the keynote session, experts including Professor Zhu Yuelong (Hohai University), Hu Jianwei (Hydrological Information and Forecasting Center, Ministry of Water Resources), Professor Zhu Wei (University of Science and Technology of China), Professor Ni Zhenhua (Southeast University), and Pang Haifeng, Vice President of the Zhejiang Urban and Rural Planning and Design Institute, delivered in-depth presentations.

Industry Perspectives: Entering the “Sensor + AI Large Model” Era

During the ecosystem enterprise sharing session, Hu Hui, Chairman of Hangzhou Ruhr IoT Technology, stated that the industry has entered a 3.0 era driven by “sensors + AI large models.” By building multimodal intelligent sensor matrices that continuously generate high-quality data, enterprises can train vertical-domain AI models capable of autonomous diagnosis, decision-making, and iterative optimization—enabling a fundamental shift from passive monitoring to proactive defense.

This vision highlights the technological leadership of WAIA member companies in the global secure IoT landscape.

Roundtable Discussion: Shaping the Future of Secure IoT

The ecosystem roundtable, moderated by Gong Jing, Secretary General of the Zhejiang IoT Industry Association, featured Professor Wu Faquan (Shaoxing University), Zong Peimin (Chairman, Huarui Investment Group), Huang Jun (Chief Engineer, SUGRC Group), and Ruan Jianmin, Vice President of Hangzhou Ruhr IoT Technology.

Under the theme “AI Enablement and Ecosystem Collaboration: Charting a New Blueprint for Secure IoT,” participants engaged in in-depth discussions on technological convergence, industry collaboration, and sustainable ecosystem development.
